Correspondence from WDNA for tomorrow

17 Mar 2023 by Sarah-Jane George

Hi everyone

Fixtures

We have had some issues with the sub-junior and 11/U fixtures due to the minor regrade. We believe all are OK now, but please check your teams’ fixtures for all teams, even those not in these two divisions. We have reviewed a number of sections and believe they are ok (and back to what was advised at the start of the season).

Pre-Planning for the forecast hot weather tomorrow.

Always difficult to know if the day will be as forecast but being prepared is the best way to head into what might be a scorcher in the afternoon tomorrow.  Knowing that there are other factors like humidity, wind speed, cloud cover, etc. Looking at how the day will progress heat-wise, once we cancel, it will be for the rest of the day. We will use Netball Connect to broadcast if the day gets cancelled.

Umpires, officials, players, and Community – Health and Wellbeing

Reminders:

If there is any concerns about the umpiring please ensure your team officials come and find someone to come out and assist. Our umpire supervisors (red jacket) are there to help. Criticising an umpire’s performance while they are officiating is not acceptable. Let’s give all our umpires, in particular, the children the opportunity to develop their skills rather than pushing them to leave umpiring because of the sideline commentary If there is any concern about a member of our community, this might be a parent or spectator from the opposition team or your own team, a committee member can help. Simply during the game, come up to the control box and request they come to the game
After the fact is often too late. It is easier to manage any issues when they are occurring. As always, the health and well-being of everyone is important to us. We will be asking our umpires in the heat tomorrow to modify their movement while ensuring they still have visibility of the movement on court and control of the game. Many of our umpires officiate multiple games (four or five) as well as playing. We want them to be able to fulfil their commitments successfully for the whole day.

Please pass all the above information on to your members.
